Founded in the District of Columbia by an Act of Congress in the year 1892, the American University is a private federally chartered research university in Washington, D.C United States of America.

It is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity, and holds top positions in various national and international rankings.

The university is made up of  undergraduate colleges as well as various graduate programs and interdisciplinary committees categorized into the School of International Service, College of Arts and Sciences, Kogod School of Business, School of Communication, School of Professional and Extended Studies, School of Public Affairs, School of Education, and the Washington College of Law (WCL).

In its bid to assist students, some financial aid programs and scholarships have been instituted. Each scholarship award is US$10,000. (Up to $10,000 for Online Master of Arts in Strategic Communication).

A. Online Master of Arts in Economics, Applied Economics Specialization: 10 courses (30 credit hours), $1,812/credit hr. = $54,360*

B.  Online Master of Science in Health Promotion Management: 10 courses (30 credit hours), $1,812/credit hr. = $54,360*

C.  Online Master of Science in Nutrition Education: 10 courses (30 credit hours), $1,812/credit hr. = $54,360*

D.  Online Master of Arts in Strategic Communication: 10 courses (30 credit hours), $$1,812/credit hr. = $54,360*

E.  Online Master of Public Administration and Policy: 12 courses (36 credit hours), $1,812/credit hr. = $65,232*

F.  Online Master of Science in Counter Terrorism and Homeland Security: 12 courses (36 credit hours), $1,812/credit hr. = $65,232*

E.  Master of Science in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security
F.  Master of Science in Nutrition Education.

Scholarships Eligibility Criteria:

A. Only students with excellent academic credentials and exceptional leadership skills will be considered for the scholarships. Scholars have to remain in good academic standing throughout the program.

B. For the Online Master of Arts in Economics, Applied Economics Specialization Scholarship, candidates must retain a 3.0 GPA or higher for their first 2 semesters in the online program.

C. Candidates for the Online Master of Arts in Strategic Communication Scholarship will be assessed based on a holistic review of the application file, including academic credentials, professional experience and exceptional leadership skills.

D. Only students with a cumulative 3.2 GPA (on 4.0 scale) or above in their undergraduate program, are eligible for the Online Master of Public Administration and Policy Scholarships.

E. Only students with a cumulative 3.4 GPA (on 4.0 scale) or above in their undergraduate program, are eligible for the Online Master of Science in Health Promotion Management Scholarships.

F. Only students with a cumulative 3.5 GPA (on 4.0 scale) or above in their undergraduate program, are eligible for the Online Master of Science in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security Scholarships.

G. Only students with a cumulative 3.4 GPA (on 4.0 scale) or above in their undergraduate program, are eligible for the Online Master of Science in Nutrition Education Scholarships.
