The University of Manitoba offers an exciting array of scholarships to recognize the achievements of recent high school graduates and to assist in financing their post-secondary studies. Each year, new students receive over $2.5 million in entrance scholarships.

Schulich Leader Scholarships
The Schulich Leader Scholarships recognize outstanding young Canadian high school students who have demonstrated: academic excellence, school and community leadership, and/or financial need.
- High schools/secondary schools/CEGEPS select their Schulich Leader Nominee by January 26, 2022
- Schulich Leader Nominees fill out a separate application that is sent to the universities by February 16, 2022.

Chown Centennial Scholarship
All high schools in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario are invited to select a recipient of the Chown Centennial Scholarship, currently valued at $1000 per student. This award is to be offered to the best “all-around” student graduating from the high school and selected according to criteria established by each school. This award may be held with any other University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 2022-06- 30
Candidates will require:
- Grade 12 average of 85% or greater in courses which meet the University of Manitoba admissions criteria;
- Recommendation for the award by their high school; and
- Admission to any University of Manitoba program.
Graduate Scholarship
Each year, more than $2 million dollars in university graduate fellowships are offered to full-time master’s and PhD students to recognize and support academic excellence. The fellowships are offered to students who have demonstrated superior intellectual ability and academic accomplishment.
Value and duration
UMGF master’s awards are valued at $14,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, for up to a total of $28,000.
UMGF doctoral awards are valued at $18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months, for up to a total of $72,000.
Eligibility
Students must have a minimum admission GPA of 3.0 to be considered for the award. Please contact your Department as they may have a higher GPA requirement.
Students must have been admitted as a full-time student without provision or have cleared provisional admission as a Master’s or Ph.D. student in a graduate program at the University of Manitoba.
