The Harold R. Rowe Undergraduate and graduate International Student Scholarships:

The Harold R. Rowe Undergraduate and Graduate scholarships for local and international at the Frostburg State  university, Maryland USA.

All prospective applicants must be enrolled or accepted for full-time enrollment at Frostburg State University. Undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking international students or Frostburg State University undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking students who have been approved by the Center for International Education to participate in a study abroad program may apply.

Kindly note: International Fellows and Graduate Assistants are not eligible.

The prospective recipient(s) must have an overall grade point average of at least 2.5. Previous recipients may re-apply annually as long as he/she is eligible. Preference will be given to applicants having demonstrated financial need.

 

Scholarship Calendar/Timeline:

  1. July 1 for Summer (July-August) and Fall semesters
  2. October 15 for Intersession, Spring, and Summer semesters
  3. March 15 for Summer semester (May-June)

Essay eligibility criteria:

Type a 500-word essay stating why you are applying for this award. Describe your current economic
situation and state how the award will help. Also discuss how your academic plans will fit into your career goals. Attach the
essay to this application. Be sure to include information about your family’s financial status and your national or personal
economic background which you feel is relevant to this application.

Additional Requirements

Please attach to your completed scholarship application the following documents:
New F-1 International students:
a.) Transcripts submitted for admission to Frostburg
b.) Two original faculty recommendation letters: (one faculty letter may be substituted with a professional letter)
Continuing F-1 International Students and Study Abroad students:
a.) Official FSU transcripts
b.) Two original recommendation letters: (one faculty letter may be substituted with a professional letter)

Category of  Scholarships Obtainable:

1.) New F-1 International students Scholarships: Awarded to international students applying to attend their first year at Frostburg State University.

Eligibility Criteria:

  •  Student meets all admissions criteria (including issuance of an I-20 from the Center for International Education)
  • Student can demonstrate financial need, with specific reference to family/national economic situation
  • A written 500-word essay (see Part II).

2.) Continuing F-1 International Students and Study Abroad Student Scholarships: Awarded to students who have completed at
least one semester at FSU and are returning to continue their studies at the University or have been approved to participate in a study
abroad program.

Eligibility Criteria:

  •  Student is in good academic standing (FSU transcripts required)
  • Student can demonstrate financial need, with specific reference to family/national economic situation
  • A written 500-word essay (see Part II).
    Award amounts: Amount of each scholarship will be determined in units of $1000 based on the number of applicants and total amount
    of funds available for award.
