The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Fellowship{ECA}:
Applications are currently invited from young Africans for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Fellowship for the 2021 cohort.
The Scheme seek to make available practical, on-the-job experience to the young professionals as they prepare either for a career in research and international development and the public service.
It will also afford the students the opportunity to acquaint with the Commission’s broad scheme and services to member States and sub-regional bodies in addressing the social dimensions of Africa’s development.

United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Fellowship | DESCRIPTION:
The Economic Commission for Africa is the Zonal arm of the United Nations in Africa saddled with the authorization of promoting the economic and social development of Africa.
ECA aims to engage bright young Africans for skills and capacity development, training and mentor-ship through a fellowship programme within ECA’s work scheme.
This initiative is in line with the Commission’s effort to assist member States develop their capacities in economic and social policy research, development, implementation, analysis, governance, monitoring and evaluation.
Acceptability Criteria:
- Applicants must be below the age of 35 years at the time of application.
- Applicants must possess advance university degree (Master’s degree or doctorate or their equivalents) in eligible areas.
- Applicants must possess academic research or academic work related to the focus thematic areas.
- Fluency in either English or French is required as they are the two working languages of the Commission.
Eligible areas of study:
International affairs, Development, Diplomacy, Economics, Political and Social Sciences, Development, Peace and Human Security, Public Administration, Law, Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineering, and related field.
Fellowship Value:
- Settling grant of USD 3,000
- Monthly stipend of USD 3,000
- Return air ticket to country of residence
